The race, held at the high-speed Reims-Gueux circuit, perfectly suited the aerodynamically advanced Streamliner, which featured sleek bodywork designed for maximum efficiency on long straights. Fangio, a master tactician and future five-time world champion, dominated the race, leading a Mercedes 1-2 finish with Karl Kling. This event was unique as it showcased the debut of the W196, setting the stage for Mercedes’ dominance in the mid-1950s and cementing Fangio's legacy as one of the greatest drivers in motorsport history.
