The 1970 Porsche 917K 24H Le Mans #23, driven by Richard Attwood and Hans Herrmann, is a legendary race car that won the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. This car was part of the Porsche team that dominated the race that year, with three Porsche 917Ks taking the top three positions. The unique feature of this car was its aerodynamic design that helped it achieve incredible speeds on the long straights of the Le Mans circuit. Richard Attwood, the driver of the car, was a British racing driver who had previously competed in Formula One and various sports car racing events. This win was his first and only victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 1970 race was also notable for being the last race to be held on the traditional 14 km circuit before it was shortened to its current length of 13.6 km.
