The Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI #18, driven by Italian racing star Gabriele Tarquini for JAS Motorsport Alfa Romeo during the 1996 International Touring Car Championship (ITC), was one of the most distinctive privateer entries of the season. Tarquini was already an accomplished driver, having won the 1994 British Touring Car Championship with Alfa Romeo, and in 1996 he scored the 155 V6 TI's only ITC victory at Silverstone, along with a second-place finish there. The car featured Alfa's sophisticated four-wheel-drive system, ABS, traction control, F1-derived inboard suspension, and six-speed semi-sequential gearbox. Midway through the season, the 155 gained the new 2.5-liter 690RC V6, producing about 490 hp at 11,900 rpm and allowing the car to exceed 300 km/h (186 mph). The #18 is particularly recognizable by its Martini/JAS Motorsport livery and large white No. 18 markings, making it a memorable example of Alfa Romeo's final-generation ITC touring cars.
